Scratch Resistance: This is the primary function. During handling, stacking, cutting, and installation, the protective film withstands most friction and minor impacts, preventing the floor's delicate printed layer or embossed surface from being scratched.

Stain and Dust Prevention: During storage before installation and the installation process, the protective film isolates contaminants such as dust, sediment, footprints, glue, paint, etc., from directly contacting the floor surface.

UV Resistance (Partial): Some high-quality protective films may have certain UV resistance to reduce the risk of surface fading caused by direct sunlight during transportation or storage (but this is not the main function, and long-term exposure should still be avoided).

Identification: The protective film is usually printed with brand logos, product names, models, color numbers, production dates, installation direction arrows, precautions, and other information for easy identification and management.

PE Film: The most common is polyethylene film, which has low cost, good transparency, and is easy to tear off (ideally).

Coating: Sometimes, a special coating is added to the surface of the PE film to improve its wear resistance, antistatic properties, or tear-off performance (reducing adhesive residue).

Adhesiveness: The back of the protective film has a slight adhesiveness, allowing it to firmly adhere to the floor surface without leaving difficult-to-remove adhesive residue (under the premise of normal use and timely removal). The adhesiveness needs to be just right: too sticky is difficult to tear off and easy to leave glue, too loose is easy to fall off and lose the protective effect.
