Metal PE Protective Film

Metal PE Protective Film

Metal PE protective film is a type of plastic film with polyethylene (PE) as the base material and a specific adhesive coated on its surface. It is specially designed to be attached to the surfaces of metal plates, coils, profiles, etc., providing temporary protection during their production, transportation, storage and processing to prevent the surfaces from being scratched, contaminated, corroded or worn.

Functions

Mechanical Protection: Prevents scratches and abrasions.
Chemical Protection: Shields the metal surface from corrosion caused by acids, alkalis, oils, and other substances.
Dust and Moisture Protection: Safeguards the metal against dust and moisture intrusion during storage and transport.
Identification and Separation: May feature printed text or colors to facilitate batch management or model differentiation.

Colors and properties

Colors: transparent, blue, opalescent, black-and-white film, etc.

Transparency: When it is necessary to inspect the quality of the metal surface (such as stainless steel), a highly transparent film should be chosen.

Light-shielding property: The black-and-white film (white surface with black bottom) can effectively reflect ultraviolet rays, prevent metals from heating up due to exposure to the sun outdoors, and reduce the risk of residual adhesive.

Main Application Fields

Metal PE protective films are widely used in almost all metal processing industries:

Stainless steel industry: plates (8K mirror plates, frosted plates, colored plates), coils, pipes.

Aluminum industry: aluminum plates (such as anodized aluminum plates, sandblasted aluminum plates), aluminum coils, aluminum profiles.

Color steel plates/galvanized plates: protect coatings and paint finishes.

Non-ferrous metals such as copper and brass.

Metal products: refrigerator and washing machine panels, cabinets, electrical enclosures, elevator cabs, etc., to protect the surface before assembly.

Common Problems and Solutions

Metal protective film

01. Residue

Causes: Excessively high viscosity, overly long attachment time, excessively high ambient temperature, exposure to ultraviolet rays, poor quality of adhesive.

Solutions: Choose protective films with appropriate viscosity and good weather resistance; avoid ultra-long-time attachment; use special glue removers for cleaning.

02. Hard to Remove

Causes: The adhesive is too strong or has aged; the protective film is broken and there is no "grip".

Solutions: Slightly heat the edge with a heat gun (to soften the adhesive); choose protective films of easy-peel type.

03. Falling Off

Causes: Low viscosity; oil stains or dust on the metal surface; reduced viscosity due to excessively low temperature.

Solutions: Clean the surface before applying the film; choose models with higher viscosity; ensure the temperature of the film application environment is appropriate.

04. Leaving Marks

Causes: Plasticizers or small molecular substances in the adhesive migrate to the metal surface, forming marks consistent with the shape of the protective film.

Solutions: Choose high-quality acrylic adhesive protective films that are plasticizer-free and have stable formulations.
