Material
PE (Polyethylene): This is the most common and cost-effective base material for protective films. It features good flexibility, transparency, tear resistance, and certain weather resistance.
Main Functions
Prevent Scratching and Abrasion: Protect the bright surface of stainless steel from scratches and frictional damage caused by hard objects during transportation, handling, processing (such as cutting, bending, and areas around welding), storage, and installation.
Prevent Contamination: Block pollutants like dust, oil stains, fingerprints, sweat, and chemicals from contacting the stainless steel surface, maintaining its cleanliness and appearance.
Prevent Oxidation/Corrosion: In specific environments (such as coastal salt spray environments), provide a certain isolation layer to slow down the oxidation or pitting of the stainless steel surface (although stainless steel itself is corrosion-resistant, it may still occur under extreme or specific conditions).
Identification: The protective film itself can be printed with brand logos, product information, operation instructions, barcodes, etc.
Key Characteristics
Moderate Adhesiveness: This is one of the most important characteristics of stainless steel protective films, ensuring easy application and removal without residual adhesive.
Good Transparency: Convenient for users to inspect the surface condition of stainless steel without removing the film.
Flexibility and Ductility: Able to adapt to slight deformation (such as bending) of stainless steel plates during processing.
Weather Resistance: Have certain resistance to ultraviolet rays, temperature changes, and humidity to prevent the film itself from aging, becoming brittle, cracking, or losing adhesiveness quickly. Protective films for outdoor use require stronger weather resistance (possibly added with UV stabilizers).
